This is a classic clay project. Using a bowl as a mold, add coils and shapes either around the outside or filling the inside; then smooth out the surface. When removed from the bowl, the underside (in this case, the outside), will show the patterns. I made these patterns more striking by staining it blue before putting a clear glaze on top.
