Just for Fun

I recently found this in a box of art supplies that I hadn't seen--let alone opened--since we moved ten years ago. I remember working on it for hours when I was really, really little. It was a fossil kit, and it started out as just a big slab of clay (or some similar material) with pieces of this skeleton plaque buried in it. First you had to dig them out (without breaking them), and then you had to clean them, glue them together, and paint them like a real fossil. I particularly remember the painting--I spent forever painting this thing, trying to make it absolutely perfect. Actually, this was probably my first experience with painting detail--it's certainly the first big project I remember doing. And that is a damn fine paint job, if I do say so myself.
