The assignment before this one was to design a series of drawing tables, each with different criteria in regards to purpose and structure. We then picked the best of these to create out of wood. This particular drawing table was to be portable, and designed for a particular space--which was, in this case, a specific tree at my house which has a very low, wide, swooping branch which is great for sitting in but not much else, considering the lack of things to do in a tree. So I made this drawing table (more of drawing board, really) to fit around the branch, with a chain attached to the bottom ends which will wrap around the branch to hold it in place, and a back support sit on the branch and keep the whole thing steady. I made the shelves to look sort of like the kind of fungus that grows on tree trunks, and you can see the slots in the top corners and the ridge at the bottom edge which holds the paper in place. The word "treesel" is a combination of the words "tree" and "easel," as my dad so cleverly decided.
