Message From The East
My Brothers,
We live in dangerous times. The Palestinians are at war with Israel, while other radical groups like ISIS are continuing to expand terrorism throughout the Middle East. Iran is working toward developing nuclear weapons, and considers America to be the Great Satan. North Korea has nuclear weapons, and is building missiles to reach our shores. Ukraine is at war with a surrogate for Russia, and Russia is flexing its muscle with the rest of the world. India and Pakistan, who both have nuclear weapons, are fighting over Kashmir again. China is flexing its military might with Japan, the Philippines, and Vietnam over territory rights. And this is just a short list of what is going on.
So why do I bring this up?
November is the month we honor our military brethren who have served in the past, or are currently on active duty. They are the shield that protects our daily life from the crises occurring in so many parts of the world. In recent times they have served in WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and now in Afghanistan and the Middle East. They are there to aid us when natural disasters such as hurricanes and earthquakes strike our country, and to assist other countries as well. They risk their lives so that we can have a better life. Many return home safely, but not all. Many come home scarred both mentally and physically. Their families make sacrifices and face many hardships while their husbands and wives are out there defending our way of life.
This month we are honoring the men and women of our military services with a special program. Be sure to be at this month’s stated meeting.
I also want to take this opportunity to congratulate Senior Warden Paul Cerecino, Junior Warden Stephen Consello, and Senior Deacon Michael Barnes for an excellent job they did in filling the chairs and the business of the Lodge. I couldn’t be there, but I have seen enough emails of praise to know that they are ready to move up. I also want to congratulate Brother Mitchel Sheinoff, P.M. on conferring his excellent Third Degree.
See you all on November 10th.
Respectfully,
Arnold Lash
Worshipful Master
